Pacific Builders
Who We Are
About a year ago, my father had some land in Portland, and I set out to build a townhouse on it. At first, I couldn’t find an architect willing to take on such a small project. And then some architects want 20K. On top of that, the permitting process in Portland was extremely complicated, and the City wasn’t much help. I eventually found an architect who now works with me as an independent contractor, and he’s comfortable with me advertising that we have in-house architectural support.
But as I moved through the process, I realized how many gaps there were. There were parts of the project—civil plans, utility drawings, landscaping plans, HVAC coordination—that my architect didn’t handle. I ended up creating much of that myself. Going through that, I believe there is a niche in the market for a company that can handle design, permitting, and construction in a streamlined way.
Most people who want to build have no idea where to start or who to talk to. That’s where Pacific Builders comes in. We offer in-house design support, but we also take on the permitting process—saving owners a huge amount of time, stress, and money. That combination of design + permitting + building is one of our biggest differentiators.
The second major thing that sets me apart is my ability to self-perform a wide range of trades. It gives me more control over quality, schedule, and cost, which directly benefits the owner.
As far as licensing, ADUs, townhomes, and duplexes all fall under residential construction. I hold the highest CCB residential endorsement and carry a $500k residential general contractor occurrence policy. I don’t have a commercial endorsement, and by definition commercial includes buildings 3+ stories, schools, offices, industrial, etc.
My challenge is that, even though I work on commercial projects every day as a superintendent for Robinson Construction, I don’t have residential ground-up photos of my own because I haven’t built them yet under my company. I do have experience with kitchen and bathroom remodels, but my long-term goal/passion is truly ground-up construction.Franklin believes that homebuilding should be personal and enjoyable. That’s why teamwork, communication, and craftsmanship are at the core of everything his company does. From the first sketch to the final detail, every Pacific Builder’s home is built with heart, precision, and pride.
